New Paintings

I love Monday and Tuesdays, They are my painting days. I would paint everyday if I could, Other things get in the way. Laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and teaching. Anyway, as I was saying I love my panting days and here are the two I did.

St, Patrick's Day Painting on Fisher 400 paper

In honor of St. Patrick's I painted something that you knew was Ireland just looking at it. I used a new paper called fisher 400. http://www.thecsc.co.uk/ I love it! It really hold the pastel,It takes and you can underpaint it if you like. (I didn't) This is a 14" x 20" pastel on Fisher 400. Cheers everyone and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Maharees Magic

This weekend there was the most beautiful moon. I couldn't capture it on camera without a tripod, so I did the best I could and painted it. I decided it had a fairy tale feel to it and painted it like a page from a story book. So here it is....

About me

I grew up in New York and was taught to draw by my father, an artist at the Museum of Natural History in New York City. One of my proudest moments was when I was asked to create an original drawing of Pataki’s Farm Stand which was presented to George Pataki when he was elected Governor of the State of New York. In 1995 I Moved to Ireland were she met my husband Patrick. MY art career was put on hold while the couple renovated a barn on Patrick’s family's farm. During that time, I worked as a weaver at Mucross House in Killarney. Once the house was built, I left my job as a weaver, started an art school in her home for children and resumed her art career. “I discovered soft pastels and soon started painting the beautiful landscapes of Kerry. The sky and the landscapes are always changing and were a great inspiration for an artist used to working only in black and white pen and ink. After years painting in pastel, I recently switched to oils. The oils give me more flexibility and allow me to better capture the beauty and subtle colors of Ireland.While many think of Ireland as rainy, dull and cloudy, it‘s quite the opposite.You‘ll never see so many variations of green than in Ireland,” In December 2010 I opened the Back Lane Gallery on New Market Lane in Killarney. The gallery is a place where local amateur artists from around County Kerry can exhibit and sell their art at affordable prices.
