I have been inspired!

The colours of autumn in Ireland are not like Upstate NY, but they are still beautiful in their own way.  The leaves don't have that explosion of colour you get in New York but the landscapes does turn the most incredible colours.  The grass turns a golden colour after the hay has been cut, the heather turns to a wonderful shade of burnt sienna.  The sky are heavy with clouds and compliment the autumn pallet perfectly.

Red Boat 14" x 18"
oil on linen
I love being in the gallery.  It is a lovely place to paint as well.  And paint I do.  Every day you will find me in my little corner painting away.  The problem is I so not get allot of time to paint plein air or to go out and get reference photos.  I was lucky enough to get permission from a wonderful photographer Michael Herman http://www.skelligphototours.com/ to use in photo of a red fishing boat for my latest painting.  Thank you very much Michael, the composition was perfect!

The Skelligs

I love the sea. I live in Killarney about an hours drive for the shore. One of the things on my bucket list is to live near the ocean. Any ocean! When I look around the gallery walls all I see is landscapes of Killarney. I decided to paint the sea instead. One of my favorite place are the Skelligs. I love to paint them. The light and the mood changes all the time. It can look lonesome and majestic, Beautiful and frightening. It has been the subject of many of my paintings lately. The painting are available to view in The Back Lane Gallery in Killarney http://backlanegallery.blogspot.com

Learning to paint in Oils continues

I feel like I am getting the hang of it.  I wish I had some of my facebook friends close by to give me some pointers.  They have helped allot with their critiques.   I am enjoying the learning process.  I like that hey are so much more portable then pastels, and cheaper to frame.  I feel a bit of a trader to my lovely pastel sitting unused at the moment.  I will be back!!  Here are a few of my latest attempts.
